Push Golf Carts
Over the last few years, push golf carts are popping up on golf courses all over the
country. With more and more baby boomers closing in on retirement and the rest of the nation trying to stay in
shape and become more health conscious, walking the course has become the newest
trend.
With that being said, people are realizing that pulling a cart or lugging a golf bag for 18 holes is just not
the best way get around the course anymore.
Although walking the golf course is a tradition of the game, walkers had become the minority as riding in a golf
cart became the thing to do. Everyone knows that a golf bag is standard equipment for any golfer. Although the golf
bag is a convenient method of carry ones golf clubs and other necessary items along his trip around the course,
they can often become quite heavy. Of course, a golfer had a choice of how to transport the bag from hole to hole.
He could walk, carrying the bag on his shoulder or pulling his clubs behind him with a pull cart or ride in a golf
cart with the bag attached. Many chose riding in a cart over the other options.
Many golfers would have preferred to walk, whether to gain the benefit of exercise or to avoid the fees of
renting a riding cart, but the early pull carts were just as bulky and heavy as the bags they were designed to
carry. Instead of getting the relief of not having to carry a golf bag, you now had to push or pull around almost
twice the weight. The first versions of these carts also did not fold up like the newer versions and therefore were
not easily stored.
The second generation push golf carts were slightly improved with the ability of being folded which made them
more compact for storage. The problems with many of the attempts to develop a folding pull cart required parts to
be loosened or even removed. These carts continued to be as heavy as their predecessors and were just as difficult
to operate.
Today, vast improvements in technology and innovation have been used to develop three wheel push golf carts.
These new walking golf carts are not the aluminum tripod with the hard plastic wheels of old. They are made of very
light, yet durable aluminum frames and are much easier to fold and unfold and can be very compact for easier
storage. These push carts feature wheels made from solid foam that are maintenance free and allow you to easily
maneuver around the golf course. Sun Mountain golf push carts are
some of the most popular among today's golfers.
In addition, the newest push golf carts have a variety of accessories that can be purchased to make your day on
the links even more enjoyable. Attachments for a water bottle, scorecard, umbrella, and even a cell phone are
available to have a truly customized golf cart.
